Supercritical CO2 Fracturing Technology
Overview

Supercritical CO2 fracturing technology is a combination of special CO2 pressurization equipment and conventional fracturing equipment, taking the advantages of CO2 to realize CO2 in a supercritical state to create fractures, carry proppant, and recharge formation energy, which has the characteristics of pure CO2 fracturing and also can realize high proppant ratio fracturing.

Stimulation performance: stronger fractures-creating ability, higher fractures complexity and better SRV.


Formation energy: recharge formation pressure and slower the decline of formation pressure by liquid state becomes gas state.


Formation damage: inhibit clay expansion, dissolve minerals, relieve and unblock pore throats, improve reservoir permeability, recharge formation pressure and improve flowback, reduce fracturing fluid retention time and loss in formation, and reduce reservoir damage.


Fluid flow: soluble in crude oil, viscosity reduction, volume increase and gas drive effect, mixed with crude oil under specific conditions, and improve the mobility of subsurface crude oil. For gas reservoirs with adsorbed gas, hydrocarbon replacement with storage pressure higher than adsorption pressure can be realized to improve the recovery of adsorbed gas.
Suitable for CBM, carbonates, sandstones and other normal or low-pressure reservoirs, especially for water-sensitive formations.
Successfully applied in the fracturing of low pressure tight gas reservoir in Ordos Basin.
